Birmingham, Ala.  -  The Strange for Senate campaign announced on Thursday the release of a new radio ad for the Republican special primary election for Senate, focusing on Congressman Mo Brooks' recent claims to be a supporter of President Donald Trump.

When asked last week by a radio talk show host in Montgomery if he regretted any of his vicious attacks on President Trump on liberal news outlets such as MSNBC and CNN, Brooks replied, "I have never taken back any of the words or comments that I made during the 2016 election.  Let’s be real clear about that. You'll never find any place, where I said, I take that back. The reservations that I expressed during the Republican primary, I think a good number of them are coming to fruition."

Brooks went even further during the interview, accusing President Trump of not keeping his campaign promises, flip-flopping on immigration and health care, and for being too critical of Congress.

Congressman Brooks has repeatedly stated that he supported President Donald Trump after he won the Republican nomination, despite telling a Duke University newspaper that he considered Donald Trump "evil" just a few days before the general election. In addition, Brooks refused to say during a radio interview just a month before the general election that Donald Trump was a Republican or that he was going to vote for him.

“Alabama voters need to know that Congressman Brooks stands behind the harsh personal attacks he launched at President Trump. In fact, he calls them prophetic and continued them just last week,” said Campaign Manager Michael Joffrion. “Alabamians want a Senator like Luther Strange who will work with President Trump to pass his agenda, not a career politician like Congressman Brooks who continues to attack President Trump. Congressman Brooks needs to apologize to President Trump and his family, and stop personally attacking the President in the media.”
