Yesterday we had a farewell party for one of my campaign interns. Phil Carroll was with us while he was home from college for the summer with his family in Alabama. Here’s a picture of Phil and his family who stopped by the HQ for the event (you can see more campaign pictures on my Facebook page, here). I was glad to have his help during the summer as there are always plenty of things to do at our headquarters. More importantly, I’m always happy to invite young folks to participate in the political process. Working on a campaign is a great way to get involved with the community and connect with political process. As we’ve seen in recent years, we can’t turn our backs and let the professional politicians run the show (or run it off the road, as it were). If we want responsible, honest government, we need to keep a sharp eye on the politicians. I’m happy if we can help bring a few more young people into the process so they can continue to keep the politicians connected with the people.
