Luther Strange Endorsed by Shelby County District Attorney, Sheriff

Shelby County District Attorney Robby Owens and Shelby County Sheriff Chris Curry formally endorsed Luther Strange in the 2010 Alabama Attorney General’s race. At a news conference in Shelby County today, Owens and Curry called for cooperation between law enforcement and the Attorney General.

“It’s an honor for me to stand here today and be the first of what I expect will be many district attorneys that will endorse Luther Strange,” Owens said. “I’ve become spoiled with the likes of Bill Pryor and Jeff Sessions as past attorneys general. They understood the ability to work together with law enforcement all across the state. We worked together as a team all those years, and for some reason, we can’t do that anymore. I endorse Luther because he understands how things work.”

Sheriff Curry backed Luther for his strong commitment to law enforcement.

“He has an established rapport with state government individuals and with our legislators and I believe he can bring to the table real solutions to the real problems that law enforcement faces in this state,” Curry said.

“Team work is so important to the office of Attorney General. Not just being a strong lawyer, a strong advocate of law enforcement, but someone who can work with the people who are the tip of the spear keeping our families safe every day,” Strange said. “It’s critical there be a strong working relationship between our district attorneys, our sheriffs and our police. It’s important for victims and for our communities.”
