BIRMINGHAM, Ala—Dr. John Killian, Senior Pastor of Maytown Baptist Church and native of Birmingham, recently endorsed in his private capacity Republican Luther Strange in the state attorney general’s race.
“Initially, I was reticent to meet with Luther. Yet, my uneasiness concerning Troy King’s growing ties to casino gambling money, his weakness on implementing a conservative agenda and his lack of interest on decisive pro-life action caused me to give Luther a second look,” Killian said.
“Luther did not come off as a high-pressure salesman, but as an honest man who was straightforward in response to my questions. Luther and I did not agree on every point, but his willingness to dialogue and, yes, to disagree was comforting. Luther’s conversation was not slick, but humble in approach. Well, my mind has been changed– this voter now plans to cast his vote for Luther Strange for Attorney General,” Killian said.
“I am both humbled and thankful for Dr. Killian’s personal endorsement. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with him, answering his hard-hitting questions and I definitely look forward to our getting to know him better and a continued dialogue on issues of concern,” Strange said “Dr. Killian knows how the immoral threat of gambling can eventually cripple individuals and families. His ability to raise the alarm in the faith community, concerning the casino owners’ literal undermining and infiltration of both our legal and legislative structures, is commendable, indeed. I will work tirelessly to bring faith and trust back to the Attorney General’s office.”
