A SON OF ALABAMA

I believe in hard work, honesty and faith. My goal in serving the people of Alabama is to protect and expand the opportunities for all Alabamians to prosper today and see their children prosper tomorrow. The values I learned from my parents and a strong work ethic guided me as I grew up in Alabama:

  • Born in Sylacauga, Alabama and raised in Homewood.
  • My father worked at the Gaston Steam plant in Wilsonville.
  • My mother was a secretary at Samford University
  • Earned my Eagle Scout rank at the age of 13
  • Played college basketball to help pay for my tuition at Tulane University.
  • Worked in the Merchant Marine in the North Sea to pay my way through law school

A PERSON OF FAITH

Since accepting Christ as my personal savior in high school through my participation in Young Life, my faith has truly been my foundation:

  • My faith is the basis for my belief in the sanctity of life. Life must be protected, including the most vulnerable among us, the unborn.
  • Melissa and I have always shared our faith with others and as a public leader I have had the opportunity to share with a wider audience – Last year, with the help of my friend Gary Palmer, we brought Fred Barnes and Brit Hume to Birmingham to give their life story and testimony to over 350 men and in May, I shared my testimony and introduced Brit to a group of 500 at the West Alabama Annual Prayer Breakfast in Tuscaloosa.
  • Melissa and I have built a small wooden chapel in the woods near our house as a place for quiet prayer and reflection.
  • Mission work is important to our family – just this year, Melissa spent a week in the remote mountains of Haiti on a church medical service trip.
  • We have passed our faith to our children – last summer our son Keehn spent two weeks as a counselor at a church camp for underprivileged kids in Hale County.

A RESPECTED ATTORNEY

I have used my legal skills to promote economic development in all regions of Alabama. I am proud of my record and hard-earned reputation for integrity in the legal and business community:

  • Recognized in Best Lawyer’s in America
  • Named Best of the Bar by the Birmingham Business Journal
  • Recognized as one of the “Best Lawyers” in Alabama by Birmingham Magazine
  • My law firm, Strange LLC, has been named one of the Top Ten Law Firms that Understand Economic Development by Southern Business & Development Magazine

A TRUE CONSERVATIVE

For over 20 years, I have worked in the trenches recruiting and supporting conservative candidates on the local, state and national level:

  • A leader in the effort to secure a conservative majority in the state’s supreme court.
  • I have served on countless local executive committees.
  • Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 2006
  • Committed to encouraging young people to become involved in the political process

ANTI-TAX AND PRO-GROWTH

I’ve always believed in maximum individual freedom and limited government – I always will.

  • I have never supported a tax increase in my life.
  • I’ve spent my career bringing business opportunities and jobs to Alabama.

A MAN OF PRINCIPLE

My campaign for Attorney General is based on my respect for the office and my belief that the rule of law is the foundation of our legal system. I’m proud to stand against the tide of illegal gambling in the state and to offer a conservative agenda that promises to work with our district attorneys and law enforcement officers.

A MAN OF COMMITMENT

My only uncle was a graduate of West Point who gave his life for his country as a captain in the U.S. Army. His birthday was the 4th of July. It just took one look in my mother’s eyes every Independence Day to remind me of the sacrifice required to keep our country free. I will never forget it.
